Jobstreet Aims At Japan For South East Asian Job Seekers
KUALA LUMPUR, 6 Dec 2007 (Bernama)

Jobstreet Corporation Bhd (JCB), the provider of online recruitment and human resources management services is looking at bringing professional job seekers from South East Asia to work in Japan.

"We will train the apprentice in the Japanese language and culture about three months at our training centre located in Philippines," said its chief executive officer Mark Chang.

He said the employment programme was part of JCB's joint venture with Asian Commission Corporation (ACC), with which it signed an agreement in Tokyo last month, to form JobStreet Kabushiki Kaisha.

"Under Jobstreet (Japan), we are looking for specific group of engineers mainly in electrical engineering," he said after the JCB's Extraordinary General Meeting here today.

JCB has a sixty percent equity in the venture with ACC.

Chang said JCB was confident of entering into the Japanese market as the country was beginning to experience a labour crunch due to its declining working-age population.

"Currently, Japan is encouraging its seniors to work longer, looking to integrate more women into the labour force and easing restrictions on foreign workers," he said.

JCB is the leading online job site in Southeast Asia with over four million jobseekers in its database and services over fifty thousand corporations in the region.
