About
The Topic
The leader needs two intellectual abilities that are usually not
formally assessed in an academic way: the leader needs to have a
sense for the unknowable and be able to foresee the unforeseeable.
This is partly what gives a leader their ‘lead’, what
put them out ahead and qualify them to show the way. In short it’s
foresight – the central ethic of leadership.
Leaders, therefore, must be creative than most, and creativity
is largely discovery, a push into the unchartered and the unknown.
When the successes and failures of companies are examined, it is
clear that achievement over the long-term depends on the ability
to innovate and take the leadership role in the industry. In the
future, business success will be determined by innovation and swiftness
to market.
