Staff Engineer (Selangor, Penang, Johor)
Responsibilities: • Capture the needs and trends of market segments, define product level opportunities, carry out essential technology assessment and roadmapping • Work closely with the Mechanical Technology Center to ensure proper project selection / definition / scope; Participate in development activities for mechanical technologies to provide product/system level design support; Drive test vehicle definition and development to demonstrate production solutions • Identify product application opportunities for mechanical technologies; Work closely to develop technical relationships that can help to secure early involvement with our most strategic customer accounts; Support technical engagement with customers; Drive deployment across multiple Flextronics segments and design centers (with a focus on PCs and notebooks) • Drive collaboration across design centers throughout Flextronics to leverage design resources on critical product development initiatives • Drive the development of advanced mechanical design / DFM tools and lead the rollout and standardization of such tools across the company • Research and investigate new and emerging mechanical technologies in support of Flextronics business development and growth strategies
Requirements: We are urgently seeking a staff engineer with expertise in mechanical technologies (metals, plastics, decorative finishes, assembly) and experience in developing new products for volume production to support product and mechanical technology initiatives across various Flextronics segments (with a focus on PCs and notebooks)
Purpose
Define and drive mechanical technology roadmaps and solutions based on needs/trends of market segments, support the implementation of mechanical technologies on various products, and deploy mechanical technologies for volume production, as part of a senior level development / support team within ATG.
The candidate should have the following:- • BS Degree (or above) in Mechanical Engineering or equivilant experience; 5+ years relevant engineering experience with a design and product development emphasis • Excellent communication skills and ability to proactively develop and drive initiatives • Advanced training and experience with various plastic, metal, and associated processing technologies • Experience with materials, tooling, finishing, & secondary assembly processes • Experience with specifications, testing, and qualification for a variety of consumer electronic products • Experience in 3D modeling with Pro Engineer & supporting tools • Ideal candidate will provide professional engineering methodologies and apply them hands-on to the product development process • Additional general engineering experience in manufacturing processes, tooling, and project management is desired
