There is no denying how much COVID-19 has affected lives. While it may be easy to identify and focus on the negative implications of the pandemic, a recent work trend report released by JobStreet revealed that COVID-19 brought about some positive effects, especially for Malaysia’s workforce.
The second Decoding Global Talent report by JobStreet, the Boston Consulting Group (BGC), and The Network looked into working practices in the new normal, job preferences, and the overall impact of COVID-19 on the workplace. Among the key impact areas that were surveyed were digital tools, the flexibility of work, and team collaboration. Results turned out positive for Malaysia, so much so that the country is recognised as one of the few where every working aspect surveyed has had a favourable effect by COVID-19.

Among industries that were most positively affected were those that involved digital and knowledge-based jobs, such as IT and Technology and Consulting. Those with physical and social jobs, including the Service Sector and Health and Medicine, scored lower but still had a generally positive impact.
