What's it like to be an Administrative Assistant?
An Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibility is assisting other employees in managing their workload by performing tasks that enable them to concentrate on other duties. Administrative Assistants often organise meetings, welcome office guests, and draft documents.
Tasks and duties
- Answering and redirecting phone calls.
- Handling emails and other forms of correspondence.
- Scheduling appointments and meetings.
- Organising and maintaining files and records.
- Drafting and formatting documents such as reports, memos, and presentations.
- Managing office supplies and inventory.
- Coordinating travel arrangements and itineraries.
- Greeting and assisting visitors to the office.
- Supporting management and staff with any necessary administrative tasks.
How to become an Administrative Assistant
The educational and qualification requirements for Administrative Assistants may differ based on the employer. Although experience is optional, familiarity with MS Office would be an advantage.
