- Issuing financial records such as purchase orders, invoices, and billing statements.
- Auditing and rectifying account inconsistencies.
- Monitoring banking activities made through the organisation’s account.
- Competing daily and annual financial reports.
- Ensuring that expenditures stay within budget.
- Arranging internal and external financial checks.
How to become an Assistant Accountant
To work as an Assistant Accountant you need to complete a relevant qualification. Some companies may prefer applicants with experience, which may be gained through internship.
- 1.Finish a bachelor’s degree. A diploma course in accountancy, which typically takes 2 years to complete, may cover accounting basics. However, some hirers may prefer candidates with a degree in accounting.
- 2.Become a member of a professional accountancy body such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). You can apply to be a member of these bodies instead of finishing a bachelor degree. However, all Accountants in Malaysia are required to be a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), which requires an accounting degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- 3.Consider completing further study to become an Accountant. A masters degree in accounting or business administration will help you qualify for senior corporate roles.
