Assistant Audit Managers usually report any findings after auditing, to make sure the company is aligning with financial regulations. This role is typically found within the financial department of businesses across various industries, including public and private sectors.
Tasks and duties
- Assessing a company’s financial operations so they are complying with laws and standards.
- Preparing audit reports detailing the findings and providing suggestions for improvements.
- Collaborating with team members to plan audits and guiding junior auditors with relevant support.
- Reviewing financial statements and records for discrepancies and potential indicators of fraud.
- Communicating audit findings to management and discussing practical solutions for any risks identified.
- Leading the work of internal audit teams, including oversight of audit testing and fieldwork.
How to become an Assistant Audit Manager
This is a mid-level position which requires a minimum of a diploma in accounting and years of industry experience.
- 1.Complete a diploma or bachelor degree in accounting.
- 2.Undergo an internship at an accounting firm or department.
- 3.Gain at least 6 months of accounting work experience, demonstrating high performance and leadership skills.
- 4.Obtain qualification with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
- 5.Apply for membership at the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) after three years of work experience.
