What's it like to be an Events Manager?
Event Managers are responsible for organising promotional, business, and social events. They make sure that the message of the event is communicated and marketed properly. Events Managers spearhead conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and parties. Event Managers plan events of different sizes and themes. They often have a vast network of contacts including trusted venue and catering partners.Tasks and duties
- Determining the parameters, policies, and process of the event plan.
- Creating programmes and producing events.
- Developing cohesive marketing strategies to meet or exceed the client’s expectations.
- Overseeing financial matters of the event.
- Liaising with the clients to know what they want to achieve in the event.
- Coordinating with suppliers and handling client queries.
- Ensuring that insurance, legal, health, and safety regulations are followed.
- Handling post-event activities and evaluation.
How to become an Events Manager
Generally, there are no set entry requirements to become an Events Manager, however experience and knowledge of the industry is often preferred by employers. Many Events Managers come from different fields. A degree isn’t necessary but there are degrees in events management that can prepare you for the role.
- 1.Acquire the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).
- 2.Consider completing a degree in business management, advertising, or event management.
- 3.Volunteer as much as you can to expand your network and create a portfolio of events you have worked on.
