What's it like to be a Leasing Manager?
A Leasing Manager's role oversees the leasing of properties from start to finish. Their responsibilities often include drafting and negotiating contracts, updating and maintaining a portfolio of properties for rent and complying with leasing laws and regulations. They frequently liaise with potential and existing tenants and other stakeholders for leasing transactions. Leasing Managers typically work in commercial real estate, property management firms, or real estate development companies.
Tasks and duties
- Handling all leasing activities including agreements, rental renewals and property reservations.
- Implementing marketing strategies to generate traffic and promote rental properties.
- Evaluating potential tenants by processing applications, conducting credit checks and interviewing applicants.
- Ensuring all property listings are advertised correctly and efficiently.
- Researching the market to stay current with real estate trends and competitor pricing.
- Negotiating lease contracts with potential tenants to achieve beneficial terms.
- Maintaining positive relationships with tenants by addressing and resolving any complaints.
How to become a Leasing Manager
This is a high-level position where a bachelor or master degree are highly preferred. Years of experience in real estate and familiarity with leasing laws and regulations are required.
- 1.Graduate with a bachelor degree in business administration, real estate, marketing, or another related field.
- 2.Undergo an internship at a real estate company or equivalent.
- 3.Get entry and mid-level jobs such as leasing agent, specialist and supervisor.
- 4.Consider applying to be come a registered property manager.
- 5.Continue to gain leadership experience, build a strong network, and stay up-to-date on the latest business trends.
- 6.Consider getting a Master in Business Administration (MBA) or another related degree.
