What's it like to be a Quality Assurance Analyst?
When companies create new products for their customers or clients, they typically make sure that these products adhere to the quality standards set by the company and regulators. This task is the responsibility of Quality Assurance Analysts or QA Analysts. Quality Assurance Analysts can be found in many companies that develop products. However, they are most common in the information technology sector, where they often take on responsibilities ranging from testing software products to addressing errors.
Tasks and duties
- Examining newly designed and developed technology including applications, systems and software.
- Investigating and recording technical defects, then communicating these to the product designers or developers.
- Developing testing protocols, processes and measures to aid other QA personnel while ensuring compliance.
- Assisting in other requirements that may arise concerning the performance and quality of products.
How to become a Quality Assurance Analyst
Most Quality Assurance Analysts have a background in computers (hardware), applications (software) or the products they will be testing. Formal qualifications are not usually required. Instead, employers may prefer those with extensive experience in relevant areas of work.

Consider completing a bachelor degree in information technology, computer science or another relevant field.

Gain experience with an internship or entry-level position in a quality assurance or IT team. Some of the more common jobs for starters in the industry include technical support officers and information systems analysts.

Consider taking certifications in Malaysia for Quality Assurance Analysts. This could be the Certified Data Analyst certification offered by select institutes in the country.
