What's it like to be a Recruitment Executive?
Recruitment Executives manage the talent acquisition system for an organisation. Their main role is to fulfil staffing needs across various departments of an organisation. This includes dealing with the end-to-end recruitment process, from identifying potential candidates and attracting them to apply for roles within the company, to screening qualified talents. Recruitment Executives work closely with hiring managers to understand their needs and what they look for in talent, as well as collect the necessary information such as job descriptions and required qualifications. They then source potential candidates that fit their requirements through a variety of channels – from referrals to career platforms.
Tasks and duties
- Working closely with hiring managers to identify and define staffing needs.
- Developing and applying sourcing strategies to attract qualified candidates.
- Screening resumes and creating initial candidate assessments.
- Coordinating and conducting candidate interviews, both virtually and in-person, to learn more about their experience and qualifications.
- Administering assessment tools and tests to evaluate candidate skills.
- Extending job offers and negotiating compensation packages.
- Facilitating smooth onboarding processes for successful candidates.
- Maintaining accurate candidate records in applicant tracking systems (ATS).
- Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines during recruitment.
- Identifying opportunities for process enhancement and optimising recruitment procedures.
A Recruitment Executive also reviews resumes and applications to screen these potential candidates and shortlist them according to the organisation’s requirements. They get in touch with these candidates to learn more about their experience and qualifications and determine whether they are fit for the organisation.
How to become a Recruitment Executive
To work as a Recruitment Executive, a bachelor degree in human resources may be an advantage.

Obtain a bachelor degree in human resources or a related field. Other programmes in management or psychology may also be helpful for this track.

Apply for entry-level roles in departments related to recruitment or human resources. This equips you with enough experience to apply for a Recruitment Executive position, as most employers look for candidates with at least 5 years of experience.

While not a requirement, additional qualifications such as the HRCI Certification may be advantageous.
