What's it like to be a Research Analyst?
Research Analysts use data analytics to improve an organisation’s operations and decision-making. They collect and analyse research data to diagnose business issues and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and profitability. Research Analysts also conduct market research, conduct customer surveys, and identify potential trends or patterns. A Research Analyst compiles all of this information in a comprehensive report and presents it to organisation leadership. They may also test and implement new strategies based on approved recommendations.
Tasks and duties
- Analysing data from past operations to identify and solve efficiency and profitability issues.
- Studying market research, customer surveys, and competitor data to predict trends or patterns.
- Using data analysis to provide recommendations, such as pricing models, processes, and policies.
- Organising data, making graphs, and writing reports for recommendations to organisation leadership.
- Testing and implementing new business strategies for efficiency and improvements.
How to become a Research Analyst
Research Analysts usually have a bachelor degree in finance, business, law, or a field relevant to their chosen industry.
Graduate with a bachelor degree in finance, business, law, or another relevant field.
Apply for associate or junior positions in business or data analysis. Positions may include Research Associate, Junior Analyst, or similar titles.
Gain at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
Consider applying for an executive position, such as Research Analyst, Credit Analyst, Business Development Analyst, or similar titles.
Consider completing an MBA in finance, business, law, or a relevant field.
