What's it like to be a Supply Planner?
A Supply Planner—also called a Supply Chain Planner—oversees the movement of supplies within a company. They anticipate demand, monitor stock levels, and manage the overall flow of goods going in and out of the organisation. Their work entails overseeing the inventory, forecasting future demand, and coordinating with suppliers for the purchase of supplies or products.

- Developing supply plans.
- Monitoring stock levels in inventory.
- Coordinating with vendors or suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials.
- Analysing data to identify existing and potential issues.
- Building relationships with stakeholders.
- Reporting on supply chain data.
How to become a Supply Planner
To become a Supply Planner, you usually need a bachelor degree in logistics, operations research, supply chain management or a related field.

Graduate with a bachelor degree in logistics, operations research, supply chain management, statistics, or a similar relevant course.

Gain at least three to six years’ worth of experience in a supply planning role.
- 3.
Become proficient in programmes such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Bill of Material (BOM).
- 4.
After gaining experience as a Supply Planner, consider progressing to a role such as Chief Supply Chain Officer, Supply Chain Manager, Materials Manager, or Director of Global Procurement.
