Tasks and duties
- Assisting in the preparation and filing of tax documents for individuals or businesses.
- Gathering and maintaining records of all tax payments and returns.
- Staying updated with tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance with taxation rules.
- Identifying potential tax credits and liabilities to provide accurate advice.
- Working collaboratively with accountants to organise and analyse financial reports necessary for filing tax returns.
- Helping to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to taxation.
- Providing administrative support to senior tax associates or managers.
How to become a Taxation Assistant
At least a diploma in accounting is typically required for the role. This is an entry-level position with work experience not mandatory but preferred.
- 1.Get a minimum of 2Ds at A-Level and 2Cs in your Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM).
- 2.Complete a diploma or bachelor degree in accounting.
- 3.Undergo an internship at an accounting firm or department.
- 4.Gain six months of work experience.
- 5.Consider obtaining a qualification with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
