The Ups and Downs of a Sushi EmployeeThe good thingsFirst of all I guess the Japanese system is really good. They encourage teamwork and a work ethic that is next to none. My employers were really able to impress that upon me. The feeling that we were part of the chain that originated in Japan. Sakae's way of fostering team spirit is really good in my opinion, not only the greetings to the customers but co-workers as well.
The challengesFor challenges, starting from the bottom and working part time of course I had to do a lot of the dirty work that no one else really wanted to do like mopping and sweeping or staying back late. But it was all part of the process so I don't mind it that much. Other than that, everyone should work in service at least once in their life. Customers are hell. ;)
