A company for the bold, the resilient, and the visionaryBerjaya Sompo isn’t your average insurance company. It’s a place for forward thinkers who thrive on challenges. In an industry where products hardly differ, ideas are the real game changers. If you have the drive to break through the noise, you’ll find your time here not just meaningful but career defining. Because I did. Yes, it’s fast paced. Yes, it can be tough. But that’s where the magic happens. In a world being reshaped by digitalisation and AI, this is a company that pushes you to evolve, stay relevant, and stay ahead. You won’t be spoon fed. Instead, doors of opportunity will swing wide open. It’s up to you whether you walk through them or not. Sompo made that happened to me.

    Working in IT Department
The good thingsIf you are working in IT Department, you are in a great department compared to other departments. Here, they value your opinion and encourage you to speak up.
The challengesWhile working with other departments, you may encounter some unpleasantness such as a toxic environment. Why does this happen, is most probably dinosaur that still there. Apparently, somehow meteorite miss these dinos.

The good thingsMany activities to be participated.
The challenges1. Increment only reflecting inflation. 2. Opportunities for career development - you can talk you win, there are peers not working but talking the whole day, and then ended up working OT. If they didn't work OT, means their workload is light? 3. Working OT = good worker mindset (isn't it possible that the person has heavy workload or maybe just inefficient?). 4. Difficult clients.

Environment of working is best as cluster is not close your head which you not feel suffocated
The good thingsEmployees are allowed to wear casual shirt except for front line employee such as customer service.
The challengesChallenges is not in the company but its department. If your department is great, you will feel great too.

    Not recommended at all.
The good thingsFlexi working hours and casual working attire. There are some colleagues that are helpful and friendly but that really depends on which department you go to.
The challengesToo much office politics. Everyone is pointing fingers at each other instead of solving the issues. Time management and leadership skills for the company managerial level are extremely bad. Most of the time, he decisions made were so last minutes as everyone is taking their own time to review/give feedback. Ended up, the middle level or executives have to work extra hours or throughout the weekend to rush things out. Often, you will receive emails in the middle of nights or even during the weekends. More and more staffs are leaving as e had enough of this unconducive environment.

The good thingsmy 1st job was with banking industries and i moved to insurance industry thats totally change my working backgrounds. With a positive environment and helpfull staff i manage to know the flow of the insurance industries in within a month which is actually i was given at least 3 months to master everything about the flow, process of the company which shows its really good to works here
The challengesthe challenges is i need to explore all of the process myself which is considered as on job training. However this give me a lot of chances to show that i can do work personally and in a group. On the other hands it will create a good relations with other staffs

The good things-Company implements work-life balance as most employees leave office before 6pm. -Job roles/functions were straight forward/non-complicated. -You'll be able to learn a lot of things and liaise with other depts very often (eg: marketing, underwriting, claims, finance, etc) -Office location is strategic - in front of Imbi Monorail station. -Company encourage staffs to take up professional exams.
The challenges-Not much training given, mostly learn through self-discovery. -You are expected to multitask from time to time (attend customer at the counter while you are also be expected to pick up the calls) -The office amenities and IT system were not advanced and requires a lot of maintenance and to do manual work. -Isolated dept location - the CS unit is separated with all other depts in the building.
