    messy transformation post pandemic
The good thingsprevious team and work tasks made sense and matched the title and salary pre pandemic. Had a good experience and guidance from several mentors.
The challengesthe transformation team lacks understanding and knowledge, even proper understanding, even common sense. Nobody knows what they are doing and they expect you to have all the knowledge. Never conducting proper training or even guidance.

    Its good for experience
The good thingsIts a mixed cultured environment, and everyone is generally open minded. Work is good if you know how to manage your time.
The challengesWhen I was there, the politics was unbearable. Those who are close to HR almost gets away from everything. Career progression is limited to people who know people and assistants are squeezed, end of the day no recognition is given. you might work well enough but it wont matter.

    Great environment!
The good thingsLovely co-workers, I'm not directly involved with superior management but from my standpoint, the organisation is able to maintain a high rapport across other language centres in Malaysia. I'd definitely go for a reputable organisation like this. Also bear in mind that all companies have their own perks but if you know when to ask for help then a lot of challenges are easy to tackle.
The challengesLittle incentives, job security as a freelancer isn't guaranteed but that would come down to economical factor, i think?

    Amazing experience
The good thingsI learned things that I don't think I get elsewhere. I don't think any other company would include training on diversity, equality and inclusion like how British Council provide. I certainly receive those training at British Council.
The challengesMy most challenging part of the job is when dealing with children as young as 5- 6 years old and also special needs children. I need to know what the children can do and what they can't do and help them.

The exposure from working at BC is just priceless and has helped me a lot in helping me being a more matured individual.

Great as a stepping stone but...
The good thingsOverall, colleagues are usually great. Flexible hours available. Decent amount of annual leave and you get time off if you work outside your working hours. Medical package is good. Dental is covered.
The challengesSalary is a bit on the low-average side. Be prepared to do more than what was agreed on. Good policies exist but are rarely followed or are bent to suit management's preference.

    Flexible
The good thingsA lot of flexibility given to you to fulfils your role in the organization. You are given flexible working time for as long as you are fulfilling the job requirements. You are given the opportunities to expand yourself as a person and also as a contributing members of the organization.
The challengesTeam work between departments need to improve as there is no connection between departments in delivering the organization's goals and aspiration. And because of this, everyone basically do not speak the same language and there is very minimum trust level in the organization.

A stepping stone to greater things
The good thingsGood training ground, advance I.T knowledge, great place to learn and experience multiculturalism. Meaningful work that makes a direct impact on people and community.
The challengesIrregular funding that creates obstacles to getting more meaningful work done. Frequent change of top management that causes anxiety and shaken confidence in the team. Low salary rank in the (Malaysia) job market .

    The Inside Story
The good thingsIt is a large government-linked institution that has big plans, great strategies, high level missions and financial backing. It is not lack of human resources and expertise although only in selected areas. There is a high respect for the company and the image it portrays on the outside. There is a vast international network and strong international influence.
The challengesIt is steeped in hierarchy, bureaucracy, red-tape and loads of internal politics. The power play happens at all levels, from the top to the individual country offices across all borders. As a public / govt establishment, there is hardly any performance-based rewards or actions for the opposite, so many are complacent or under-performing for years, just awaiting for retirement benefits.
