A place to learn a vast technical knowledge about seismic data processing as part of E&P activities.
The good thingsI was given much resources to learn the knowledge about seismic data processing and apply it into real project. Able to indulge myself into a positive working environment with different people from different background. Received sufficient supervision from experienced individuals who helped me in solving problems related to project. Beside working, I also enjoyed non-technical activities I involved such as SDG's activities, year-end trip, etc.
The challengesNot much in particulars. But, maybe 'breaking the ice' with other colleagues during the first time of work which was quite challenging as most of them were occupied with their project.

    Internship Experience (7 months)
The good thingsThe employees would willingly teach you, provided you are keen on learning. CGG University, learning documents and materials are available. It's fine if you have no experience, learn everything from scratch. The soft wares / in-house applications are user friendly but you ought to get the hang of it. Don't hesitate to ask around if you are lost or feel that you've hit a dead end, no one's gonna eat you up. However, preparing yourself to seismic data processing would come helpful prior to joining this prestigious company.
    The challengesLearning.

The challengesRequire strong mental and physical due to the nature of the work that is quite challenging. Seismic data processing is quite hard field master and require hard work to excel in it.

    Invaluable Time and Memory
The good thingsThe working culture is American style. You are assured that your well-being while working here is guaranteed. Out of all workplace I have been to, this is the one I missed most. The working environment is very positive. All ranks of staff mingled in same level, no discrimination can be seen here. The facilities and the subsidy that CGG gave, propelled it's employee to be more productive.
The challengesEvery work culture have it's own challenges. Of course, the communications is the most challenging in doing day to day activities. Without clear and courteous communications, any company is doomed. Luckily, in CGG, an effective communications course has been put in place to provide it's staff with great level of communications skills.
