Carefree intern, not much guidance provided.
The good thingsVery carefree intern experience as I was allowed to work from home for 4 out of 5 working days, parking was provided and supervisor was very helpful and motivating.
The challengesSadly, I was the only intern in the IT department and the manufacturing sector has no dedicated IT team or leader to assist me with even a basic framework.

Ok for introvert but not their culture
The good thingsIf you join for production, remember that here that another job is your job. The culture work here is not a fun thing. The vibe, people, surroundings are just not there.
The challengesTry to change the culture here. I respect for those who can do that

It was a good learning and experience platform.
The good thingsBeing an intern doesn't necessarily means tasks were lightly given here. The internship here has enabled anyone to experience how real life work was like. Seniors or teammates were very helpful in teaching on tasks before assigning it to intern.
The challengesCommunication between teammates on assigning tasks to intern is highly necessary.

Enjoyed the pace and working environment
The good thingsThe colleagues are very friendly and helpful. The managers are willing to teach and guide where ever necessary. The pace in the company is suitable for those fresh entry graduates to learn the trade. The environment enable the individual to have a good work life balance. The people there are able to separate work and play. The people are easy going and the average age is quite young therefore enable adapting easier.
The challengesCertain processes could be removed to enable process to be completed quickly. Currently there are a lot of steps which one must get for approval to execute an activation.

    good environment
The good thingsManagers are very supportive and willing to teach and guide. Managers look to give underlings responsibilities to manage.Colleagues are very open and willing to help when required. People in the company are kind.
The challengesOne of the top company in Malaysia. Holding very strong percentage in the category and the challenge is to maintain the shares as well as to hit the targets set out especially in the current soft economy environment. Have a lot of process and SOP before can proceed to execute an activation.

    Colgate
The good thingsGreat teamwork, very stabilize company with long years in service, especially the set up of SAP system which is way advance versus other FMCG in KL/Selangor
The challengesIntegration between different departments could have been better, limitation of resources and less encouragement for transfers between regional roles and offices

    7 years at colgate
The good thingsColgate has prided itself in being the most ethical multinational company in the world. The company provides training on its ICPE FCPA and code of conduct so that all employees observe the best practices to create a good working culture. The company also is provides a multitude of training so that employees can do their work better.
The challengesColgate can sometimes be too centralized in decision making that it constantly challenges employees to seize the opportunity. Colgate is focused on rewarding the sales team and not the other supporting departments makes an employee very unappreciated. Their traditional stance on business also makes them lack focus on the other aspect of business that will make a difference in the future

    Unstructured Review System
The good thingsGood parking benefit. Nice Canteen. Good performance related bonus plan and medical plan.
The challengesPressure cooker to work there. The organization for manufacturing was too lean until it became not productive. Eg: A person has many responsibility until everything is not done fully, dropping the ball causing issues with other peoples deliverables.

The challenges- Projects timeline is challenging in consumer goods environment, always in the fast pace - You may need to lead a project that have no one done it before....super challenging - Markets and management is demanding sometimes - Need to handle multiple projects at the same time - May need to stay back late night call due to the project nature is cross regions and countries

Great Learning Environment But Bad Work Life Balance
The good thingsColgate Palmolive provided a good platform to start my SAP Career through continuously learning and project involvement. Strong Knowledge Management has provided the new joiner with proper documentation to be refer and guidance to pursue their career. In addition, there is always an opportunity to involve cross region project to share your expertise and gain extra skills set.
The challengesThere is always a problem of compromising the time zone differences where Asia Pacific Team always required to accommodate the US & EU time differences. This has caused the AP Team Members required to work day and night in order to attend meeting, training and discussion. Furthermore, poor understanding of Asia Pacific Government Policy and Culture has lead to complexity in rolling out IT Project.
