Paycheck is on time, good place to explore more on cyber security
The good thingsAfter more than 10 years, I'm still here because the paycheck is on time and sometimes early. Management is good. The working environment is also good.
The challengesDon't play dumb here or the management will ignore you. You have to always keep up to date. Office politics is everywhere. Low-level staff voices are mostly unattended unless things are getting bigger. Always ensure you have black-and-white evidence.

    Excellence
The good thingsAn excellence workplace and knowledge centre for the beginner to start their career as cyber security expert.
The challengesSince it is an agency under government, don't expect high perks and benefits. Challenge yourself to contributing in revenue generation program in order to get some incentives. Most of the top management are not from the IT security background, you need very good justification to proceed or propose new security initiatives.

Flexible, dynamic and awesome management support
The good thingsMy employer demonstrate that the human touch towards the employee meaning employee interest and the company interest should be always in sync. The management have a clear direction to achieve the goals though going thru a rough patch in the beginning the employer are very patient with the employee to impose changes that actually benefit the employee in the long run despite rocking the employee comfort zone.
The challengesThe challenges is the employee adapting to the new environment which need them to be in very fast pace to keep up. Employee engagement need to be in a slow pace as the employees are so complacent with the previous set up. Thus making the transition to be at the snail pace. Nevertheless is a good and positive gesture as if employees are to be push, it would retaliate even more harder making the changes more difficult,

    Newly discovered professional skill
The good thingsThe first day i walk into the new job, my confidence level and approach to work was only about listening and complying to orders by superior. Now, all has changed with vas improvement in my professional skills albeit its been a challenge to achieve it. Public speaking is no longer a setback as its part of what i'm doing and loving every moment.
The challengesTo instill the confidence in doing public speaking was a challenge for me. Although i've had this hidden desire/passion to conduct public speaking, in which i had no idea of my capability, it has really open up other opportunities and experiences that i won't really be able to achieve it in my previous place.

The challengesYou have to be ready to be bond after taking training. Working in ad hoc task is normal even your real task does not finish yet.

Your journey in information security begins here
The good thingsMany different topics or areas of cybersecurity are covered by respective departments within the organisation. Frequent knowledge sharing sessions between individuals and departments, even book sharing sessions are held. Helpful colleagues are the norm here. Job satisfaction is tangible. There were also quizzes held on a periodic basis that tested your knowledge and there were rewards!
The challengesIt is not a 'for profit' organisation, so good remuneration is a challenge here. If there is a dearth of incoming projects, then you must be smart in managing your time; either spend the idle time learning or just..be idle. Budgets can be cut as they're usually govt funded so bear that in mind. Due to pressures of meeting deadlines that shift 'at will' then you might be working really long hrs.
