    A supporting resource for other supporting resource, not a professional role

    The challengesThe role was a complete waste of a professional's skills and time, offering no career growth due to flawed management decisions that followed a company restructure in 2023. The majority of time was consumed by outdated manual processes for daily tasks like exporting data, deploying schema changes, and supporting data warehouse deployments. This systemic inefficiency created a toxic environment where the DBA was consistently used as a scapegoat during RCA. The work was further disrupted by a constant stream of unnecessary escalations and a support structure that failed to function: PS and ES teams consistently proved unable to resolve basic database issues independently, relying on the DBA's assistance for manual data patch deployments. This, along with a never-ending cycle of migration projects, reflected a chaotic environment with no strategic planning.
