    Learning the hard way
The good thingsHigh pay, generous benefit and paid leave.
The challengesSome leaders use charm to cover up disorganization or deflect accountability. I’ve learned the hard way that not all friendly faces create safe spaces.

Think million times before you takes the job offer from the IRC. Unless you are so desperate to get the job.
The good thingsEasy access because the office location is near the MRT Station. Annual increment but at a very minimum amount. Medical coverage, but so much silly process to claim.
The challengesUnprofessional management is due to managers being appointed among senior staff but with unrelated working and educational experience. Mobile phones are not allowed to enter the office. Managers back up each other when they have a conflict with non-exec staff. Rubber stamp HR team. The country director is likely to debate the raising issue instead of solving it. Retrenchment is common practice due to this organization depending on donor funds.

Poor Management and bad office location
The good thingsNo punch card, The office provided coffee and biscuits, and the office location was nearby MRT station. Easy access to the city center; annual dinner Medical insurance coverage.
The challengesLimited annual leave, supervisor appointed among the senior staff, not by experience or education background. There was not much skill to learn, and staff turnover was high due to a boring working environment. 90% of staff are new and have been working for less than 5 years. There is no overtime allowance. No personal handphones are allowed in the office. All staff are contract staff .

    Stupendous
The good thingsIRC is a company that encourage and rewards growth of staff in terms of knowledge and capacity building. It have a lot of trainings and a lot of side activities that employees could use in order to bond with other staff.
The challengesThe only thing is that i miss the field work as i am a field work humanitarian and at IRC the work done have to be from the office. Therefore the only challange for me is missing the field work and travelling from one place to another to meet the beneficiary.

    Interesting
The good thingsThe cause and the passion is definitely there. You will learn the reality of humanitarian work, its perks, and its limitations. You will also learn the incredible drive and the human limits when it comes to helping people.
The challengesWages and career progression, relatively, is below your average corporate job. You will also be disappointed with the bureaucracies that you faced and the sentiments some would have about your job. Lastly, you might be discouraged by the lack of appreciation by others.
