The Analytical Content Editors department management is who I aspire not to be.
The good thingsThe benefits are exponentially better than most MNCs that I am aware of (you can claim the most absurd things). The people are incredibly nice and friendly in other departments and it is easy to get along with everyone. It is also relatively inclusive of gender and race in other departments.
The challengesOffice politics is to be expected but where I draw the line is unprofessionalism. We all have the same expectation/goal of working to benefit the company. The highschool clique environment and bad management made it very difficult for me to get my job done, and sometimes, they even try to affect your personal life. I understand that we may disagree with way of life but do not bring your personal agendas and feelings into interfering with company deadlines and goals, and especially, from me just trying to do my job. Merit and potential is not seen as asset in this team, but your ability to assimilate into the single cell, and your race does, which to me, is disappointing. I see the company reaching its goals but this team cripples its core.

    Overall a good experience
The good thingsRespectful workplace. Everyone is kind, there's an open communication for opinions/thoughts/feedbacks. Feeling valued as superiors will take time to appreciate and recognise our work. Also love that they have initiatives for inclusion and diversity in workplace and that there were fun virtual activities organised to stay sane while wfh!
The challengesSometimes, you can feel overwhelmed with work but there are team members that are willing to help.

    Not a long term career
The good thingsWork life balance, good employees' benefits, easy job
The challengesNot a secured career as there are constant shift in leadership and some seniors were even retrenched. HR employees were very defensive when it came to inquiring for further info from them as they would accuse you for defaming them when you were just trying to solve some problems you had.

    No future prospects for growth
The good thingsThe good things would be salary is often paid on time, sometimes early during festive seasons. There are frequent celebrations for each religious group, so food is plenty. The people are also some of the kindest & friendliest I have met.
The challengesThe challenges working for this company are:- 1) Managers are only interested in playing politics and stirring drama when there isn't anything at all. 2) No one takes care of employee well-being, its always "take care of yourself first attitude". 3) People are always ready to bring you down and not help you up. 4) Jobs are all dead-end jobs, no prospects for growth.

    Not advisable to work here.
The good thingsSalary is paid on time and sometimes early, never late. Benefits are there.
The challengesTypical stubborn overseas management that refused to understand local environment and business trend. It often ends up with new staff being hired and existing being laid off due to the overseas management failure to keep up with local trend. Also the HR and colleagues aren't friendly that would take things personally for no reason when everyone is here to work, not to play politics.

    Paid to Read
The good thingsYou got paid to read, it's like you got paid to breath, for someone who just loves reading, which fortunately, I do. I worked with good people and made few good friends while working there. The MD was very sporting and like to build up good relationship between all employees, regardless which department you are working in. So, there, everyone knows everyone.
The challengesMy immediate supervisor is a people-pleaser, so you will find that you're overwhelmed with works that is not yours. The pay is just average and increment is not much. Though it is an international company, it does not reward its employees as an international company should. This company also has gone for 3 cycles of retrenchment for the past 9 years. The perks of the job also kind of average, nothing fancy.
