Good environment but low pay rate
The good thingsThey teach you on how things done. Management open to negotiation. Recently flexible working hours also introduced.
The challengesPosition really limited and hard to even land an interview. They does not apply or offer probation period for newly/ part time worker. Also low pay rate because they barely pay the minimum wages without any incentive except EPF.

    Great
The good thingsI was helping the masters and PHD students in their project. They taught me on how to do my work in a more sterile way, and they guided me on every thing that I was not sure of. My supervisor always check on me to see if I was learning. It was a good period of internship.
The challengesSince the chemical and reagents are expensive, they don't let you to try everything (less hands on), but we can observe while the seniors do their experiment. My internship was for 2 months, hence I couldn't learn much things and had to repeat many failed experiments.

Good place to work and gain new knowledge at the same time.
The good thingsThe boss (especially professors and since i'm one of their research officers) is a mix of friendly and strict at the same time. The staff is cheerful and lively most of the time, albeit a bit boring in terms of environments and facilities provided. The best part is a good teamwork whenever a project/research need to be done as per schedule. Also, the boss do care for their staff needs (perhaps in my research department only) and will aid with what they can to help you overcome your problems, just make sure you done your job as directed.
The challenges1) Tight project/research schedule that need to be done as directed. 2) Need to travel a lot, so a personal transportation is a must have (Don't worry, millage claim can be claim in advance or later on) . 3) Need to interact with various peoples of a different backgrounds with a different language.

During my internship in UTM, Skudai, the lab work (project) that was given in related to mycology work which it was a good experience for me because I rarely did mycology work during my study time. The teammates for this project also bery reliable, understanding, gave a cooperation in all lab testing and came up with a solution whenever there were problems. The supervisor also very supportibe and helpful. The staff there also very kind.
The good thingsI learnt not only experience working in lab on mycology work, but also learnt the management or I can say, I learnt other things too during my internship in UTM. The supervisor, staffs as well as teammates are so supportive, kind and helpful which make the working environment less stressful. I manage to make new friends and improve my communication skills because I need to communicate with the foreigner student everyday.
The challengesSome of the lab testing is hard to be done due to lack of reagent
