Excellent opportunity and experience the digital economy in Malaysia
The good thingsGood work-life balance with flexible working hours. Good benefits. Everyday is interesting due to numerous govt-related projects in promoting and pioneering the digital economy in Malaysia
The challengesAs a government agency, we depend on the stability of the government. We are the executor of all digital economy policies and projects for the government. Any time the government changes, the policies changes, board and senior management change as well. We need to adapt and keep up with the changes.

    GREAT OPPORTUNITY OFFERED BY MDEC
The good thingsThe experience have develop my self to be a better person as an Online Marketing Trainer. Many great opportunity have been given by MDEC such as training & support. People in education and training field should join as a trainer for professional development.
The challengesThe training is paid in commission based, it does not have basic salary. But if you work hard you get more. Have to challenge yourself to achieve your own financial goal with guidance from management team.

Change top management is needed urgently
The good thingsnice set up, senior management team should be changed lots of old timers still having influence in decisions day to day operations and staffing matters.
The challengesless politics among senior leadership team, more sharing session with managers will do good instead keeping only towards their circle of trusted staffs. HOD should empower senior managers to set KPi rating among the managers and senior executives instead of HOD to have final say.

The good thingsFlexible working hours, the environment and all colleagues are friendly enough to say that I'm very happy that they treat me as well as permanent staff.
The challengesI'm also live in Cyberjaya, which leads to huge expenses over the month. It would be nice if they add more benefits to the temporary staff.

    Empowering and insightful.
The good thingsWorking at MDEC was a rewarding experience in general. You are able to work across industries thus giving you exposure and the people are great teammates. The working environment is relaxed and encouraging, especially knowing the fact that you are contributing to the development of the country. All in all, it is a great place for someone to grow their career and build relationships.
The challengesThe expectations from the senior management may seem daunting at first as the government has entrusted MDEC with a lot of national initiatives but everything is manageable. Performance assessment may be strict but if you truly work hard and shine, the company will reward accordingly with attractive bonus incentives.

    Good place to work
The good thingsVery flexible and understanding bosses. The environment is great as it is like a resort. I missed working there a lot because we usually work as a team unlike certain companies.
The challengesTo please the government as it is a company owned by the ministry. The management has a tough time in preparing specific proposal for the ministry.

Good Opportunities In Learning & Development
The good thingsMany opportunities to learn many soft skills, e.g. Presentation skills, communication skills, negotiation skills. Opportunities to have a chance working in collaboration with the government on a national agenda, assisting local companies to reach global heights. Good exposure to how the industry works when traveling abroad. Fulfilling to see your work impacting many people of different levels.
The challengesToo much office politics can be unhealthy. Can be reduced if a more objective performance evaluation is in place. Work culture and environment can be improved to be less government-like and more performance focused.
