Working in a GLCThe good thingsThe company offers some of the best benefits for its staffs that most Malaysian organizations do not provide, including outpatient coverage for parents of staffs, as well as full medical benefits (including specialist treatment & hospitalisation at private medical institutions), speedy and efficient GL and hospitalisation services etc. The company also organizes great social programs.
The challengesAs the company owns many subsidiaries that are mostly located in one compound, there seems to be a lack in communication between the subsidiaries and also the main unit, creating unhealthy factional culture, which at times create much difficulty if different units & subsidiaries have to work together. Also, in my unit, career advancement opportunity is poor.
