The fall of the StarThe good thingsDuring the initial first 2 years of setting up the agency for the Hong Kong HQ, I was given the free hands to drive the agency's performance and culture .The overall result was phenomenon. Agency achieved full payback within the first year, before the 2nd , it has overtaken the previous agent in business volume and performance of 10 years.
The challengesBefore positive result/target was achieved, all the understanding of the incentives & rewards for the team has to be per-agreed with the shareholders or BOD in writing. Otherwise, one we got up there, any subsequent negotiation will always become a problem. The ancient wisdom of proving yourself/or team first is out of date in today's context.
