The good thingsGood co workers. But horrible management and building is old and a lot of maintenance required.
The challengesA lot of non transparent policy and decision making. Stingy in making any effort to upgrade the school and staff skillset.

    Superb employer and school community
The good thingsI have thoroughly enjoyed my experience of being a British department head at this school. The students are, above all, just wonderful to work with . They are polite, communicative, eager to progress and extremely rewarding. the environment of the school is well-designed, prizing space, green fields and the most beautiful swimming facilities as well as basketball, indoor gyms and a dance studio. All areas are kept immaculately clean and my classroom was more than adequately air-conditioned and equipped. All meals are provided very cheaply and there is a lovely bond between those who board and those who are day students. One of the reasons why parents - as well as teachers - should consider this school is that it is all about celebrating the children's worth. None are left behind, all are motivated and looked after with the greatest respect and care. Their academic and personal achievements are fantastic. Nilai town holds this school in great regard and the links with the university are strong. The principal and his team - of which I was one - are harmonious and inventive. The Covid -19 crisis has been handled calmly, with respect for all families that make up the NIS family and consequently, the school is thriving with online and face to face teaching. All teachers are involved in continuous improvements to their Teaching and learning, no matter what your level of experience is.Weekly professional development meetings are held for every staff member. These are fun, challenging and helped us to bond. if you are looking at either sending your child to NIS, or applying for a post here, i can't recommend it warmly enough. The poor reviews I have seen are unfounded and have no relevance to the current running of this excellent school.
The challengesAdjusting the the climate outside of the school.

    A Better School.
The good thingsNilai International School delivers a caring learning environment for children from EYFS to IGCSE. Children and teachers have access to the latest curriculum text course books and workbooks as well as the latest Microsoft computers and Apple I-Pads. All classes are equipped with Interactive Whiteboards and Smart Notebook facilities. The school enjoys a packed co-curricular timetable which includes the International Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Eco Schools. Continued Professional Development (CPD) is at the heart of the school’s commitment to staff, pupils and parents.
The challengesThe challenges are Eco Schools Silver award by Sept 2019: International Duke of Edinburgh Awards by April 2018 and British Council IELTS Associate Partnership achieved by November 2018. Forming partnerships with Malaysia’s indigenous people, Orang Asli and promoting sustainability is another important goal. Raising pupils examination achievement grades remains a strong school focus.

Nilai International School - A Better School.
The good thingsNIS’ dedicated and driven Headmaster in Mr. Charles Dormer joined the school in August 2017. Mr. Dormer was educated at England’s most prestigious Cambridge University. He is an innovative and caring professional and you can expect to work closely with him and a dedicated team of teachers daily building a school of excellence for all our pupils, from EYFS to IGCE. You can expect excellent facilities: newly decorated classrooms, all with IWB; display boards; well stocked computer rooms and I-pads and library. Children follow the Cambridge International Syllabus in the Prep and Secondary Schools. Teaching resources include Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE English Coursebooks/Workbooks; Cambridge School Support Hub; E-Learning Platform LiteracyPlanet and PM Nelson Family Reading resource in our EYFS and Prep School. You will work with teachers from Malay, Chinese, Indian, Tamil, British and Irish cultural backgrounds. NIS very much values its multicultural family. Teachers promote subject learning through internal and external competitions. Children are happy at NIS. You are very welcome to come and visit and see for yourself.
The challengesNIS challenges its teachers to give of their best every working day. You will be expected to support the school’s Co-Curricular Clubs which offer clubs ranging from cooking and badminton and fencing to our Eco Schools club working closely with Malaysia’s indigenous to the International Duke of Edinburgh Award and a whole lot more. You will be challenged to develop your teaching and learning through weekly staff training sessions.

The good thingsHolidays no one will bother you. Teachers here are very friendly. Every year you have bonus and increment, after all more and less it is still money.
The challengesSystem keeps changing, don't book your holidays early, cause after they set a holiday they change their dates again. No matter how you work hard, if you go against the management you are a bad staff. So think twice, unless you are a person without principals you are welcome to join the school.
