Training place for fresh grads but did not manage to attract experienced local talentsThe good things1) Good work-life balance, engineer level & above are entitled to one-day work from home every week, stress level is not excessive.
2) Equipped with the state of the art application instruments for food, cosmetic and lubricant testing.
3) Ability to collaborate with the European team based in France for joint R&D projects, also the chance to lead your own R&D project if you are competent enough.
4) Company is generous in providing training - employees always have the chances to attend the training conducted overseas.
The challenges1) Very little chance for career development, which causing high turn-over rate among the experienced staffs that had served between 3-7 years.
2) Team in Malaysia is often left with lack of direction, focus, strategy and vision that sometimes can lead to frustration and the feeling of abandonment.
3) Plenty of grey areas on the job responsibilities - expect to work not only as the engineer but also as the project owner, regulatory affairs, procurements, purchasing etc., responsibility grows tremendously as your project moved to phase 3 and above.
4) Lack of communication between the departments as some of the departments are reporting directly to the corporate office based in Europe.
5) Most of the projects still depends heavily on the decision from the European counterpart, local team has little say which mostly only restricted to giving comments on technical aspect.
6) No real effort from the management to push for employees growth.
