    Unprofessional work environment
The good thingsMay be a good place for fresh graduates, who are looking for teaching experience as they pursue a stepping stone to better things in their teaching career.
The challenges1. The company can be unprofessional, as they tend to combine classes of different grade levels for teaching and learning, for example students from Early Years could be attending the same class together with students from Years 1 and 2 for subjects such as Maths, Geography and English. 2. Without prior approval via the ministry of education, nor having proper and readily available resources to teach, the school is offering Cambridge University A-Level program full time. At present, 2 students are pursuing the course in the pioneering year for the school. 3. Rude teaching staff who often fail to communicate well with other staff 4. Often carrying out activities on ad-hoc and without proper planning, while scheduled activities on school calendar for parents change regularly and on last minute basis. 5. School canteen closed down with the reason of covid-19 pandemic and the school has no plans for reopening of this facility 6. No library facility available for students. Principal blaming staff for failure to open the facility. 7. School often expect staff to work offline, especially during holidays and weekends

    Pelita, my 2nd home
The good thingsA good working environment and wonderful colleagues. I love where the school's location is as I love to be surrounded by nature. Once a year the staff gets to go on a trip (local/overseas). Although there are meetings, we get to go out as a group and have a good time. Just like how students go on field trips. The management is constantly thinking of the school's progress and development. Hence, the teachers get a chance to play active roles and be part of the school's growth.
The challengesParents sometimes send their children here to build their English foundation and once their children are better or 'ready', they switch them to other schools. It can be frustrating when students leave and it is sad. It would be nice to have annual leave in addition to school holidays. We are allowed to apply for leave for a certain number of days but it would come under unpaid leave.

    Nice work environment, terrible management
The good thingsThe students, colleagues and the working environment. Close to nature.
The challengesFavouritism is practiced here and there is no clear job scope. Rules and regulations keep on changing without prior notice. Teachers and students need are not prioritized.

    Never A Dull Day
The good thingsGoodly amount of autonomy in lesson execution. Fantastic community of teachers. Teachers' dedication to students' holistic development is powered on all engines. Academic calendar packed full of events ranging from highly-academic to out-of-the-box ideas. Lots of opportunity for employee development (e.g. fitness, trainings, part-time study, socialising, etc.)
The challengesMain priority of lesson execution may be interrupted by planning and execution of events and additional curricular items. Current size of staff is a bit small for grander ideas.

    An Underappreciated Gem
The good thingsLovely working environment away from the busy city. School is surrounded by nature and has a huge football field. Staff are warm, friendly and dedicated. The school culture inspires fun learning, character building, creativity, and so much more. Everyone in the school naturally works towards the same goals and vision of the school; to bring out the genius in every child. Wonderful teacher-student dynamics. I have learned so much and enjoyed my experience teaching here.
The challengesHigh turnover rates for students as parents tend to prefer bigger, \"branded\" schools. Certain activities are limited as the school does not have the facilities to accommodate them. Execution tend to happen less than most of the planning done in the background which can be frustrating.

    Business, not education
The good thingsGiven weekly trainings with trained consultant and other special needs teams as part of training and up-skill development. Staff are dedicated and do their best in ensuring students get the best possible education, given the limitations.
The challengesStaff and student needs are often not prioritised, resulting in conflict and high turnover rates for both staff and students. Teachers are overworked, with no clear job scope and are not empowered to make decisions, nor execute ideas even within the classroom.

    Dishonest Management
The good thingsWe have a free hand in planning and running our lessons as we deemed suitable. The management usually is ok when it comes to learning materials. They will get it for us when the need arises. The students are great and full of potential. Staffs are great too! Overall, the working environment is good as it is far away from traffic and in the midst of lush greenery.
The challengesNot honoring on contract! Even though it is a monthly paying job and yet they will not hesitate to deduct pay during school holidays. What is frustrating is that they don't even show how the pay is deducted. At the end of every month, when the pay slip is given, only a figure is printed without any elaboration on how they arrived at this figure. Every month, we will have to figure it out ourselves
