Join Scholastic only if you have a strong immune system and a resilient heart.
The good thingsVery minimal political issues at work
The challengesThe Local Finance department is consistently permitted to delegate their responsibilities to the SSC without needing approval from top management. They lack a clear understanding of their tasks and responsibilities. Additionally, this company offers no work-life balance.

Great start for anyone starting out.
The good thingsThe employees were friendly and helpful in guiding me on my tasks.
The challengesThey weren't many challenges because the delegated task for me seems pretty simple. There was an insurmountable amount of workload in the months of May and August.

    A great working place
The good thingsScholastic provide career opportunity to new hires and existing employees and allowing them to grow accordingly. Scholastic management empower work life balance and that's proven in the early year of pandemic where all employees are working from home. The policy implied are practical and employees can work freely so long the task assigned is completed.
The challengesPandemic has causes Scholastic made a stern decision in order to sustain its business through ceased operations, reduction in force and salary cut-off.

    Good exposure
The good thingsAverage paced company where you'll be exposed to many mediums of publication. Promotes women empowerment and this office has more women employees than men.
The challengesHeavy workload. Employee's well fare is just average. Not much window exposure, hence you'll feel like a little trapped inside the office.

The colours inside a children book publishing company
The good thingsGetting to work together with great team members that is very supportive, open to fresh new ideas. Team members with different personalities just add up the colours-I can hardly remember a day of working without a smile in here! Plus, the management and administration is friendly too.
The challengesAlthough things went good most of the time, but being the only one with such a specific job role can be the real challenge as everyone looks for you when it comes the need to deliver from your designated role. Although I work inside a team, but I do believe having at least two person of the similar job scope (designer) can boost productivity and quality.
