    Worsened by current leadership.
The good thingsSmall team. Friendly colleagues. In-house canteen (albeit belonging to another tenant in the building). Free parking outside office (MBPJ rarely comes to issue fines). Free basement parking for motorcycles.
The challengesToo many very old folks milking it to fund their twilight years and lifestyle. News Editor is more of a PR exec than a real journalist. New reporters are not being trained the proper way to be good journalists. All must attend daily morning meetings. Articles must be completed and sent in a few hours after being assigned to reporter. Zero effort to get more serious with new media and online presence.

    Toxic work environment
The good thingsThere are some genuinely good people that will try to help you but they have no power to make changes
The challengesYears of low ad revenue and lack of funding result in an extremely outdated system. Overworked managers exploit their staff and they have no boundaries on working hours and personal time. They should invest more in human capital and training. Bring in professional talent to manage the place rather than the current old people.

    A roller coaster experience
The good thingsI had to learn on my own at my own expense. Self- motivation was the key.
The challengesLet down by the management and owners. They failed to keep to their mission of being a responsible newspaper and do their best for the country and all its citizens.

    Reality of Corporate World
The good thingsI learn about how a company sustains itself in market to ensure its product been supported by mass market. Also, the determination of employees on supplying news feed to quench societies continuous thirst on news. As it is a news organization, the company bear sole responsibility of its contents.
The challengesHighly improvised itself on online media. The company is still using the old system to upload news material into its website. This makes online presentations less attractive than other companies. The company does not have an App that allows readers to subscribe and receive \"push notifications\" every time the news is updated with something new.

Nice environment to work in, but paper needs to evolve
The good things- Good camaraderie and family-like working environment among staff - There is work-life balance and flexible work hours - Training courses available if needed by employees - There is room for career advancement if one puts in the effort - Lots of room for creative thinking if working in advertising and marketing
The challenges- Does not actively look to improving digital aspect of the newspaper; very slow to evolve and keep up with other media in this area - Too comfortable in their environment that they don't explore new ways to do things or resolve issues - Old computer software still in use; takes a long time to upgrade to the required software to work with

    No room for growth
The good thingsFlexible working hours, lack of stress, and the work-life balance
The challengesPoor communication channels, rigid and often unrealistic KPI, culture of complacency, poor leadership, out of fashion management, outdated system, no proper SOP in place, non existent career growth, and lack of proper training provided.

    ON THE GO
The good thingsWorking for the Berjaya club Megazine was the best experience in my life.the exposure to high profile personalities was a great work experiences. The editorial co-ordination, working with important people and putting the Megazine together two months in.advance was a great challenge.
The challengesHad to study part time n work.full.time as a journalist. Running between assignment and submitted the same and juggling degree classes was my greatest challenges. Our management could have giving us more perks and benefits for those on da go.everyday.
