Good company but weak leadership - taken over by Repsol nowThe good thingsThe camaraderie, teamwork, salary, and bonus is good. There are also many opportunities to work internationally - I have had 4 opportunities to travel to the HQ in Calgary and be on assignment there for several months.
Locally in Malaysia, the team works well, we made money and spend prudently. We have lots of fun at work too. Hence why I worked there for more than 10 years.
The challengesThe leadership, starting from John Manzoni the ousted CEO, made many wrong choices for Talisman and brought the company close to bankruptcy until it was being taken over by Repsol.
Some regional and local leadership have issues too - we sometimes wonder how they even become leaders.
Benefits are quite basic, so don't expect it to be comparable to the big companies like Shell, Exxon or PETRONAS.
