Helps you acclimate yourself to journalistic norms
The good thingsHelps develop and increase your knowledge on business and finance. Tasks help you about efficiency and accuracy in writing articles (through implicit or explicit input from your editors). Encouraged to take own initiative in doing tasks given.
The challengesDon't expect to get spoonfed on how to approach your tasks and how to write articles, you'll have to ask around and try things out yourself, However, the coworkers are friendly and generally helpful.

    The Best Place to Grow
The good thingsI finally found the place where I could grow as an individual and an employee. My colleagues were friendly and helpful people. The environment was great and relaxing to work in. They even had a part-time psychologist whom you could arrange appointments with if you were feeling stressed! That's what I like about in a company. Someone whom you can confide in, who isn't directly related to the company in any way.
The challengesAs with all companies, there will always be that one person who would try to make your life difficult. There was one who ruled over most of the social media and communications side of the job, whose approval must be requested for before moving on to the next step. However, as she is very high on the pedestal, she is not always available to approve our tasks and this delays a lot of our work. The mentality of the senior management are of the old school of thought, which meant that trying to reason with them on capitalising on the use of digital marketing and social media is a huge challenge!

A good place to learn about financial journalism, building contacts and network within the corporate world.
The good thingsChallenging. A lot of things to learn including news writing, about financial market, corporate development, equity analysis. Opportunities to travel abroad and learn about different industries, meeting prominent corporate figures, ministers...
The challengesToo much work load at times. Stressful and quiet environment. Not much interaction between colleagues. High expectations with minimal guidance. Need to be proactive and independent. Requires multitasking skills.

    The best learning experience
The good thingsWhatever your background is and whoever you are, as long as you have the right attitude and willingness to learn, The Edge will give you an opportunity. The company values young talent, and will take a chance on hiring fresh graduates. Still, even with many untested talent in the company, the best financial journalists and veterans of the newspaper industry are able to deliver high quality news
The challengesHowever, Corporate Malaysia and economics can be unfamiliar subjects to most people, so one will take a lot of time and make a lot of embarrassing mistakes to learn. The newsroom can be a high-pressure environment because news needs to come out instantly; it can be really stressful for newbies to deliver.
