Too much too little too late
The good thingsI was employed as a Secretary but the role had quickly expanded to be all-in-one, ranging from secretarial duties, sales, human resource. I found it rather challenging initially, however as the works piled up, so was the stress. I requested for help but the boss was too cheap to hire. I lasted 5 years, boss is quite a nice person albeit cheap, the work benefits were minimal, not worth the stress.
The challengesI took on more than I could chew and eventually got burnt out. It's very hard to change the mindset of a traditional family business which do not see the importance of their employee and welfare, work performance is 1-way and is judged as he pleases, there is no check and balance. Although he highly trusted me to do a good job, some rewards and recognition would be appreciated without asking.
