The challengesSince the day I joined, my journey has been filled with challenges. Progress has been difficult, and positive outcomes have been limited.

    Toxic
    The good thingsSupportive colleagues
The challengesIt seems the VP of SDAR might not be the best fit for overseeing DSFA at the moment. It might be beneficial to have an exemplary Head of Department (HoD) for DSFA. Currently, the performance of the HoD has been less than ideal, and there are some concerns about their leadership skills. It appears that their approach might be more emotional and less effective in managing the team. There’s a sense that they might be more focused on appearing busy rather than actually improving the department’s performance, and this has led to a rather toxic work environment. The high turnover rate in the department could be a sign that changes might be needed to improve the situation. Additionally, she tends to be friendly only towards staff who flatter her and often hires people based on personal preference rather than work performance.

Very good management and working environment.
The good thingsTeaching works are enjoyable because the hire management put the trust to handle our students very well and live the flexibility to conduct the classes as we see fit and match with the type of subject we are teaching.
The challengesThe changes of key performance indicator to focus more on research rather than teaching which would sometimes switch our focus on teaching.

    Overall a pleasant experience
The good thingsFlexible working hours is perhaps one of the best benefit that comes with the job. It gives you the freedom to manage your time the way you deem fit. The management has clear goals for the institution's future and will always work hard to achieve them. This is evident from the speed it manages to climb the THE University Rankings. The campus and the town in which it is located are beautiful and serene. The standard of living is not as high compared to big cities and you will never have to worry about being stuck in traffic jams.
The challengesThe rapid pace at which the institution is growing also means that there are more things constantly being added to one's job description. However, such contributions are not always compensated due to various undisclosed reasons and this might cause burnout among the staff. While promotion and professional development are possible, the remuneration could be revised for better staff retention as income is a major concern for most.

    I love UTAR
The good thingsColleagues are all very friendly. My superior is very good, she teach me a lot of things and give me very high rate in my annual performance. With the experience of working here, I get more better opportunity after I quit the job. I learnt a lot of things here. The salary is low, but the benefit is not bad.
The challengesThe opportunities for career development is very limited if you don't have Bachelor degree. As I only have diploma, I was not able to promote to a higher level even though my job scope was higher than the job scope of my position.

    A good platform to learn
The good thingsUTAR provides a lot of learning opportunities to all staff, staff are given authority to teach and do research. Training courses are provided to all staff for personal development. The working environment is challenging and competitive, it will be recommended for employee who can work under high pressure.
The challengesThe company's policies are always changing in a speed that staff need to push themselves beyond their limits. Although many capable staff still manage to catch up the requirements but it leads to burnout very rapidly. Often, the staff will experience emotional exhaustion and depersonalise their own value.

    Gain experience & multitasking
The good thingsFriendly staffs - we will help each other even if we are from different department. High EPF -18% company contribution Stable job - suitable if you are seeking for stable life or try to settle down. Not suitable if you are looking for fast career development.
The challengesLong working hours if you work with certain departments. You might need to duty during weekend or after work. OT is underpaid. Besides that, you need to be multitasking handling different duties assigned by management. Sadly, lack of appreciation from the management. Increment is pretty slow.
