Low Increment and Slow career progression
The good thingsWell establish Multi national company. Good Health care benefit provided for family, which seems typical for Semicon company.
The challengesThe annual increment rate is very Low for Semicon industry. But there's no other choice in Sarawak. If continue to be loyal with the company, the increment will be "just that". and you hardly find a chance for Promotion if your boss are still in position. IF i would have a choice (without family), I would have choose to leave for Singapore Semicon which has better compensation package.Local Management hardly accept change. The benefit has not been revised for ages after i have been working here for almost 20 years.

The good thingsFriendly seniors who are willing to help you, just ask if you have any uncertainties, do not be afraid to ask. The Head of Department is also great.
The challengesFor my department and what I do, Microsoft Excel skills are very important, since we review data, input data and summarize data is the primary job, then excel skills are really needed to make it easier

Good platform for those who interested at semiconductor industry
The good thingsCan learn a lot of knowledge in multi-disciplinary engineering from many experts. Can expose to many in-house and cross site training if you're in right department
The challengesUsually must be willing to multitask and take orders from Germany sites. Cross-site management is a huge challenge since they always do not understand what is required by local employees.

Clear job scope and training provided
The good thingsThere is a clear job scope and they provide the necessary training that is available to equip you for your tasks. Working hour is flexible enough. Manager is understanding and listen to your issues though they unable to address all the problems.
The challengesThe company use legacy systems. Therefore its hard to find resources for the tasks needed. Lack of backup in terms of work as each colleagues have specific tasks.

Great company with great culture and people.
The good thingsChallenges ahead with high demand and expectation from superiors. Daily review of current and future issues in both manufacturing and technology involvement. Great company benefits. Human resource department definitely set a good foundation for people from all departments (operation, customer service, manufacturing, quality, & R&D) to come along for activities and gathering.
The challengesJob scope is too wide. A single individual may have to deal with multiple issues and may lack of appropriate knowledge to deal with these issues.

    life of an engineer
The good thingsGood and helpful colleagues! They are like my brother and sisters, helping each other out of trouble. Company overall culture is good, seniors are willing to coach and teach. Team work is always present and work satisfaction is great. Good learning and training for own skillset and personality. Infrastructure was on the high tech side. Good career development for future company leaps.
The challengesSalary increment is too slow and bonus close to none. Even though the company is earning annually. Technical knowledge improvement could hit a limit because most of the advanced manuals came in Japanese and main vendors are from Japan where technical knowledge is a trade secret. Equipments are too high tech to find enough material for self study improvements, not even from Google.
