What's it like to be a Project Coordinator?
Project Coordinators organise project activities and work closely with Project Managers to prepare action plans, including resource allocation, time frames and budgets for projects. Project Coordinators usually manage schedules, resources, equipment and information, while liaising with clients to identify and define project requirements, ensuring their needs are met along the way. Project Coordinators are found in a variety of industries such as construction, IT, marketing and events management.
Tasks and duties
- Assisting in planning, design and execution of projects, monitoring their progress and adjusting as needed.
- Creating project schedules, project management plans and related documentation.
- Liaising with relevant stakeholders, communicating project status and ensuring the project is on schedule and within budget.
- Facilitating problem solving and decision making among project groups, and escalating issues to upper management when necessary.
- Coordinating project meetings, taking minutes and following up on action items.
- Managing project resources, which can include forecasts, schedules and reports, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Collaborating with different teams within an organisation and aligning company objectives with the project.
