A place to earn skills and knowledge
The good thingsThis is a place you can learn a lot of new skills such as soft skills ie: communication between different people from other BIH offices worldwide, management skills and client as well as vendor/supplier management. You may face issues along the project execution and management always open its doors for you to walk in and discuss how to solve it. Colleagues are supportive especially those who have in in the company long enough > 5 years as they have wide experience in guiding you sorting out problems at hand.
The challengesWell, I'd the management could be more supportive of staffs that put in extra hours the day before due to T-con between client or suppliers from different time zone by let them come in later the following day but that's on case-by-case basis.
Overseas business travel allowance should be provided which didn't, not even a penny so all expenses will be reimbursed as per actual expense so if MYR does not improves against USD, GBP, AUD or EUR then you'll likely feeling the pinch of high cost of travelling.
Management could also do away with favouritism of having only project manager going out overseas for kick-off meeting, progress meeting, internal coordination meeting between UK & M'sia office if needed (this rarely happens though..) and have the project engineers be involved in this meeting thus alleviate the burden of only one person (the PM) have to going places locally and round the world.
Ah, one last thing to mention..hope BIH have weed out those bad apples that come in to the office and do 'extra' works not related to the company such as insurance management yet able to avoid being retrenched.
