What’s it like working at Equator College?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Equator College offers a supportive and professional work environment characterised by helpful colleagues and minimal office politics. Employees appreciate the learning opportunities provided through training and project exposure, along with good work-life balance including consistent working hours and ample holidays.

However, the institution faces some challenges typical of a small family-run business, including a traditional management approach and limited career advancement opportunities. Other areas for improvement include the need to modernise operational systems and facilities, while compensation packages, including salaries and benefits, are reported to be modest with slow progression.

    Great Experiences working there
The good thingsGood collegiality and positive cycle of people. Most of the seniors or supervisors are generous with their knowledge, there is a good learning place for freshmen and the management team is willing to support or provide financial aid for those good performing employees on their professional development. The working culture here is professional with no workplace politics, all departments are quite supportive . Most of the students respect their lecturers and have a good learning attitude. Work-life balance working environment, there are a lot of holidays compared to the non-academic private sector.
The challengesDue to the structure of the institution being small-to-medium size , there was a lack of career growth opportunities, (nevertheless, for the new staff it is still easy to get salary raise by year until a certain range), the benefit of employees is just basic coverage.

    Insightful Career Growth Opportunity
The good things-Allowed to be exposed to projects and company information even at the early stages of employment -Trusted to juggle roles that are within your capabilities -Friendly and helpful colleagues, less office politics -Open to hiring fresh graduates
The challenges-Low pay even for candidates holding a Bachelor's degree -No allowance (meal / transport) provided for staff having to travel out of the office (reimburse with days off or time off instead) -Will not disclose a compulsory 6-day work week on peak months until the candidate has already confirmed their position -Expected to 'take initiative' to juggle tasks/ responsibilities outside your department -Expected to still be active for work related duties after hours or even when on leave -No commission is given for closing cases -Long probation period (6 months)
