    Working as bridge design engineer
    The good thingsWell organised working flow between management, design and drafting works. Work scope of each team member for project is defined well by project implementation. Such environment will enable team member to work fluently. Engineers are given opportunities to gain experience for all elements of structures for completeness of experience. Information sharing is encouraged in the organisation.
    The challengesExperienced bridge engineer is lack in the market for developing country like Malaysia as infrastructure work is at full gear. Unlike building consultancy, bridge engineer requires more passion and interest. As time frame given by client is always insufficient, engineer and draft person would find it challenging to meet the expectation.

    The good thingsFor a consultant firm the workload is considered reasonable. Design work are being assigned to several engineers; as opposed to other firms where engineers are required to perform several design tasks at the same time which may lead to unnecessary stress and unreasonable working hours.
    The challengesThe management must recruit experienced engineer. Currently there is no experienced engineer who is capable of handling design tasks. Almost all engineers in the firm are graduates/juniors and they are left on their own to carry out design works. This results in low quality design deliverables and high turnover of design staff.
