It would be a great place for enhancing your knowledge and engineering understanding, but not a great place to settle down for career development.
The good thingsOpportunity to learn major mechanical understanding throughout career at Jimah.
The challengesLow to none increment, biased management, no career developement.

    Work life balance
The good thingsLess stress except during turnaround season. You can propose whatever project as long as related to scope of work and budget availability. Can study a lot of mechanical machine and system, from rotating equipment until static pressurize equipment. Work life balance. Safe working place. Perfect environment of workplace. Great management people.
The challengesAverage salary for power plant industry/ high risk workplace. Purchase approval level in plant very limited. Career development quite slow. Limited training for competency.

    Great Company
The good thingsThe best place to gain knowledge. All people in here give good cooperation to you. You will work with people who are eager with their job. They will never laugh to you if you fail, lost or do something stupid. They are also very open to new ideas and opinions. The best work culture is in here. You will never forget that.
The challengesMaybe like others company. Lot of politics. For working level, it seem like you will static at one position for a long time. There is not so much movement for working level but it is a great stepping stone if you want to move to big company. Management will not counter offer your salary even though you have any specialty.

It has been a great life experience being practical here.
The good thingsAfter going through 24 weeks of industrial training in Jimah, I obtain a lot of knowledge and experience which could not obtain from the books and university instead. In Jimah, I feel free to observe the engineers working environment and could learn the proper way to carry out the involved technical tasks. This experience can surely bring me advantages in the future when I pursuing working career. Besides, the practical in Jimah has also provided me a chance to improve and polish my soft skills. I learned to have the correct attitudes and behaviors when communicating with other people and carrying out engineers’ responsibility. It definitely will help me a lot when I entering into the real career world with the improvement of those soft skills.
The challengesJimah Power Plant is a place which is dominant by male workers so as a minor female engineering practical student at Jimah, I have challenged myself to be a tough person, not easily give up and being commitment in conducting tasks.Besides, as a practical student I have to be able to think critically and logically to analyze and solve problems arisen immediately. Moreover, I have to arrange my daily time schedule between work and life balance so that I will not become stressful to undergo practical in a quite challenging working life engineering environment.
