A Stepping Stone, But Not for Long-Term GrowthThe good thingsIf you're a fresh graduate or just starting your career, this company might serve as a stepping stone to gain some working experience. However, I wouldn’t recommend staying too long, especially if you value career progression, fair compensation, and a modern work environment.
The challengesThe company is very old-school — they still rely on fax machines and paper-based processes, with very little to no digitalization. Be prepared for a highly manual workflow that doesn’t match current industry standards.
If you're considering joining the audit department, proceed with caution. The audit procedures are outdated and do not align with the current Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIAM) standards. The audit manager is nearing retirement and has clearly checked out — don’t expect any support for your development, promotion, or salary growth. Career stagnation is a real risk here.
Appraisals and salary increments are discouraging. Promotions are rare, and even if you get one, the increment is minimal — often just RM50 to RM200. Many employees only get recognized after threatening to resign or actually leaving. The salary structure is severely outdated and far below market rate.
