A relic from the past, struggling to keep up with our modern era
The good thingsOffers a promising learning environment for newcomers seeking personal professional growth and development opportunities. The workplace is characterized by friendly and welcoming employees who foster a relatively supportive atmosphere. Plenty of opportunities for knowledge and work experience gain. The workload varies by department and team, but overall, it is managed efficiently, allowing employees to balance responsibilities and maintain reasonable workloads. Also provides an excellent platform for individuals to enhance their skills and knowledge.
The challengesThe company's work culture is very traditional and outdated, with reactive rather than proactive business model, and is also highly resistant to change, creativity and innovation. With its resistance to change in our current fast-paced era, it's only a matter of time before the company loses its competitive edge in the already increasingly competitive industry as more competitors that are newer, nimble, and fast-paced continues to emerge. Which could be seen in their outdated legacy products which they are also struggling to maintain. The overemphasis and micromanagement on work hours rather than productivity and timely deliverables leads to employees focusing solely on meeting clock-in and clock-out requirements, which compromises the quality of work produced. Plus various other traditional and conservative working environment/culture you would generally expect. Communication is also a challenge, which results in an inefficient flow of information across departments. The quiet working culture within the office environment has contributed to delays and pending tasks, as employees struggle to communicate effectively. This lack of communication has impacted collaboration and resulted in missed deadlines and incomplete projects. Essentially, there is no sense of team or collaboration, although the individuals themselves may be friendly, do not have the expectation of making connections beyond being "someone you know from work", which is even lesser than what a person would call a colleague. These are also the main driving factors on the company's current struggle to retain long-term hires, and also suffers from the inability to hire younger employees. Which in turn leads to the diminishing understanding of the current demographic.
