What’s it like working at Permodalan Nasional Berhad?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Permodalan Nasional Berhad offers a welcoming and professional work environment where employees benefit from strong teamwork and camaraderie. The company is known for its excellent benefits package, particularly in medical coverage, and demonstrates commitment to work-life balance through flexible working arrangements. There is also a strong emphasis on professional development with various training opportunities and chances to gain industry insights.

However, employees should be prepared for some challenges. The career progression can be slower than expected due to low turnover rates and multiple career levels. The work environment can be demanding with tight deadlines and strong focus on KPIs, and there is notable competition among staff, especially for those in training positions seeking advancement.

Truly one of the best organizations to work for.
The good thingsI had a very positive experience working at Permodalan Nasional Berhad. The flexible working hours, healthy work-life balance, and non-stressful environment made it a rewarding place to work. The culture is welcoming, with colleagues who are both friendly and supportive. I admire PNB’s contribution as the backbone of Malaysia’s financial sector and wish the company continued success.
The challengesThere may be some noticeable gaps between staff and trainees, but I believe this is quite common in most organizations.

Interns are able to grow at a stable rate and also learn which working line they would like to work.
The good thingsEveryone are friendly towards interns. There are no barrier of communication between permanent staff and interns or Graduate Executive Trainee (GET). Staff always ready to support the interns, and also always ask for the opinion of the interns or GET's. So this create space for the interns to grow and look at which working line they are interested in working.
The challengesThe challenges I face are transportation and lack of knowledge. First, transportation, as I do not have my own vehicle, it is quite hard to go towards the office, but I found of a solution by using public transport such as bus, and train. I also find it easier if I carpool with other interns who possess a car. Next, is lack of knowledge. Although I am a Degree student for Accounting course, real-life working experiences are very different than I expected. Additionally, on diploma internship, I am a tax trainee, which I able to use only a few of my earlier working experiences. The way I counter this is by doing self study of internal audit, and always keep in touch with my colleagues. This way I able to understand and verify if my study is relatable to internal audit or otherwise.
