Good culture, a lot of things to learn!
The good thingsGreat culture, very open bosses, willing to train and transparent with results and KPI. They also provide free meals and understands work life balance.
The challengesSometimes work can be a bit intense, however, seniors, managers and even directors pitch in to help. A family atmosphere which has normal arguments but positive experience overall.

Good start and even for a long careerWorkplace here is a mixture--runs a bit like a family, where everyone is close and management is accessible. Their clients are also a bit mixed but overall, its a very good environment to start your career and probably even have a longer one. The open environmetn is good and bad sometimes -- especially when other groups talk very loud or laugh very loud and we are dealing with customer on phone. but overall -- well recemmonded

Toxic culture and toxic management which I will never recommend to anyone
The good thingsNone. Only if you managed to find good staff
The challengesEverything. The bosses & management will never let you progress. It's a very toxic culture

My experience revealed how poor leadership and neglect of employee well-being can create a toxic and unsustainable work environment.
The good thingsThe open-concept layout of the office creates a more inclusive and collaborative environment, allowing us to see and interact with colleagues from different departments.
The challengesOne challenge with the open-concept office is that it gives us a clear view of how the CEO and management treat their staff. We often witness instances where employees are scolded and mistreated in front of others, which can be demoralizing and create a tense work environment. This approach impacts overall team morale and raises concerns about workplace culture. There is an expectation to be available at all times, including during personal leave such as MC or annual leave, with additional weekend work often not being adequately compensated. Furthermore, there’s a lack of structured guidance or mentorship, as it’s assumed staff are already well-versed in their roles. When team members resign, the workload of multiple people is often redistributed to a single individual without any adjustment in compensation. Additionally, there seems to be a perception of bias in some management decisions, and HR is often viewed as prioritizing the interests of management over employees. These challenges can impact morale and work-life balance, highlighting areas for improvement in fostering a more supportive and equitable work environment

Once you've been thru hell everything else feels like heaven.
The good thingsOnce you've been thru hell everything else feels like heaven.
The challengesManagement expect you to work like CEO (24/7, find the solution by yourself) but pay you like intern.

The challengesWork is a lot esp in peak period, expect to quickly learn, there is no set mentorship program, directors usually v busy

    Great place to start out
The good thingsI have very good experience here; the workload is slightly high but is expect in audit. they allow work from home also, and also flexible and quite good facility. office is open, the senior/mgr and director very approachable, they try give advise when stuck and very helpful, very open to improve careers
The challengesdocuments and policy not so many, there is not structure for training and mentoring, so the approach sometime not so consistent. quality also must be improved. i leave because have to relocate, otherwise will stay longer. they also have office in diff places - penang, ipoh, sabah etc.

Good start, Friendly people but less structure
The good thingsThe best thing is the people - especially same level, seniors are willing to help, managers even stay late and also notice some directors work very hard also
The challengesthere is lack structure to learn. many things have to pick up and work given sometimes may not suitable for the level - for exampel, sometimes senior review also not correct. mistakes happen but must hv structure to learn

    Learn fast, learn quick
The good thingsIs good learning experiences here, especially if its first job. You get to learn things very quick so have to read a lot, and learn fast, after one week, already on the fieldwork and doing many things, lots of things to be busy here. also there is a good social events - sometimes got team building, outings etc
The challengesthere is not much structure, like small company, management also give sometimes too much and expect too much. learning structure here is less, we need to think quickly and learn on the job, often rush deadlines also. no mrt near here, and lunches around office is expensive.

    Workload is too high!!
The good thingsThe people are friendly and nice, like family, struggle together, enjoy together. also got free meal sometimes and actually exposure to many clients and differnet type of work . For instant, they also got technology team to help customer do technology things, asides from normal audit - this usually in Big4 or bigger firm but not usual in smaller firm
The challengestoo much workload and not enough training - everyone do their own things - for new people, its sink or swim. open concept in office sometimes disrupting, because people talk very loud, not enough meeting room, tables very messy. work at weekend sometimes is common and also demand a lot from junior, with little training. pay is average

    Very good learning experience
The good thingsWhenever we go out in the industry and state the name PKF, it is known. Usually, work around 2 years here, you get so good exposure, some big names will come calling because they know you have solid background and they can afford to pay you. PKF pay is ok, but usually get extra premium from other firms if they headhunt you from here.
The challengeslearning curve is steep, a lot of self taught. it teaches self initiation. most ppl i hear complaining are those who need to be babysit, only do what is told and have no clue how to manage their own time and learning. if you have self discipline and self initiation, this is best place because lots of work opportunity. spend a few years here, build your portfolio, network and knowledge, definitely have a bright future, like me!

Terrible Management and Company dont care about employee's welfare
The good thingsThe knowledge that you can gain on for accounting but their practice is way different than other Audit Big 4 firm.
The challengesWhen Pandemic, Top management team come down from Kl and force employees to deduct half of the salary if not allowed leaving the office.

The good thingsGreat learning opportunity since the company handle some of listed company. Friendly & helpful staff. Flexible working hours.
The challenges- Unstatic working hours. - No increment, no bonus, no OT, no allowance. - Need to sacrifice your leisure time 24/7.

    High Expectations for Juniors
The good thingsIf you can survive here, you will find other jobs easier. The standard of expectations, deliverables and even report writing (grammar, language, structure) is very high expectations as they are focus on quality. But sometimes, hard to achieve the quality with the timeline given, so there is pressure to deliver.
The challengesTimelines are tight, quality expectation is very high, juggling multiple projects. while you will get help from seniors - they are also super busy- sometimes, you find yourself in deep end, sink or swim. Its good learning experience.

    Bad experience working here
The good thingsGood and friendly colleagues.
The challengesWorkload is too high, partners expectation that the senior will have more knowledge and work like a manager but with a lower salary. Too much of pressure where the partners will text you even after working hours, on weekends, on MC and AL. Be ready to work anytime. Too much workings needed to be done for P&L section where its time consuming. Partners will review the report when client started to chase the auditors, hence unable to meet the deadlines even for a PLC. No proper hierarchy; no managers, assistant managers and supervisors. Senior will need to liaise directly with partners. Not recommended for staff who really wants a work life balance.

It was a great ride while it lasted
The good thingsGood working environment, good learning, friendly colleagues and a genuine feeling of togetherness (for the IT)
The challengesIts not easy to adjust to the demands and expectations - the technical knowledge needed is high. Was not right for me at the end as prefer more 9 to 5 operational and not advisory/audit.

    Terrible for Career Development
The good thingsFree food - provide free meals due to PKF can cross-charge its related company (meal provider is related company).
The challenges1. Managers are lack of knowledge, they will ask you to find solutions. Hence, you will not know what is wrong and the correct procedures. 2. Only a few of BIG clients. 3. Difficult to find parking and is expensive. 4. They provide a praying room and you can stay in the room as long as you can (each time 10min to 20min) :)

The good thingsPKF provides a good environment to start off a career - good support from management and colleagues, family atmosphere, hardly any politicking
