World's Top Bank with Child Play Tech Department
The good thingsRelatively high starting salary, superb number of annual paid leaves, seasonal workload, and extra employer-EPF contribution, flexible working arrangement, shuttle bus services between office and selected LRT stations.
The challengesSubpar management run by mediocre people, promote formalism at best, always speak louder than action. No room for career progression, no salary increment regardless company performance. All projects are managed like a child play, every now and then there are meetings to condemn engineers of their degrading project quality, no real action or solution ever been taken. Then they will fund new projects to improve quality, which of course are destined to fail miserably because no discipline and standards were being established and followed. The whole tech department is a good laughing material, I don't recommend for fresh hires.

    Delivery is the primary focus
The good thingsThe company is generally good to work for. I was unlucky with my team.
The challengesIn my team, delivery is the primary focus without regard to employee wellbeing. The company has rules and practices in place for work/life balance but unfortunately, my team didn't have it. In terms of the long term career, be prepared to create magic in order to have a fulfilling career. Again, I was unfortunate that my team didn't care for or could care less regarding career progression and longevity. Another point to raise is, the technical team I was working with had such a lack of diversity that, in my opinion, affected the work ethic and quality negatively.

    Condusive working environment
The good thingsThe organization provides good remuneration in terms of social and personal benefits to employee. It also gives back to community in its social responsibility by actively organizing many csr activities and encouraging participation from employees. The condusive working environment provides comfort and ease for employees to work and increase efficiently.
The challengesThe company should spend more budget on giving back to employees in terms of bonuses as to optimize the capacity of its human capital. There should also be more activities like company trips and team building in order to promote more unity and understanding among eemployees especially from different units and divisions.
