    The good thingsWhat I really enjoy being working at this company is that colleagues are friendly and willing to share their experience and guide me patiently during working period.
    The challengesThe management of the company could be improve to make working there better. Employer should take time listen to employees' advices and come out with better plan after discussing together.

    The challengesTight deadlines with minimal capacity, no proper documentation or guidance for new joiners, no career progression or training plans, toxic management and too much office politics, lower than average salary.

    A place to just gather some basics in design
    The good thingsEfficiency is improved by doing the same tasks and design every day, it's fine if you want stability but definitely not the place if you like challenges or want to level up your skills
    The challengesNo proper training, in recent years designers are not even given basic training on how to use the CAD software. Seniors are also busy so no time to teach, new designers only know that there's a problem after a defect happens. Top management is not trained in managerial or engineering skills, only thinks of how to add in more new jobs without cosidering the actual capacity or if there's any resignation. If you perform, they'll make you do more jobs with no appropriate compensation or increment, very bad salary package. Management likes to micromanage and create new childish rules. Different set of rules apply to different dept, not treating everyone fairly.

    The Job Scope Doesn't Challenge You Much As Well As The Pay
    The good thingsGood for the fresh grad who wants to seek for basic design knowledge.
    The challengesNot so much you can learn about the design process. The machines are already well developed in Japan HQ. So design engineer at Towa just need to design the automation modules to ensure there is no hitting and it will run smoothly depending on the products. Because of that you'll not learn about FMEA, DFM, DFA. You will not get the opportunity to learn to do the design thinking to build a machine from ground up like selecting the material, selecting standard parts like pneumatic valve, involving in cost calculation and so on. Thus this make it hard for someone who want to jump to another big companies as there are looking for someone who involved in a lot of thing during design process. I think it is good to stay here for just one year and go for another big companies. If not, please find a way to show what you traits from yourself that you can bring to another company. Learn more at home about design, management, and please involve in another thing outside work as this will help your career growth as you will gain much soft skills at this company.

    The good thingsGot free jacket, decent air conditioning (still broken down sometimes), new office.
    The challengesThis year there is gonna be salary structure. I know myself always got better increment every year, but no matter what, I'm going to leave this company either after performance review or after bonus. Is not only money (although we need money and this company give very low), but it's about growth, culture, environment and management. If you cannot change them, you change company. Waste my time here.

    The good thingsNothing is ever good here. Salary? Lowest in Penang. Environment? Toxic and also uses rule like school. Management? Never act like one.
    The challengesEvery problems that happen in the company, they only solve it using their common sense. Speaking about training, not only engineers were not given training. Even the managers never have an experience from different companies and also has lower education level. They only stay there because they cannot go anywhere. Terrible company despite being a big and well known company in Japan.

    The good thingsOnly food is good here. The new canteen has a lot of food. Before this people need to eat bland taste foods.
    The challengesOur company slogan is "The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today", so I take that advice and will leave the company soon. Just received a call for an interview today. Regarding the best in Penang thing, our company win the best company in Penang in giving the lowest salary known to man. Good job! Keep doing it!

    Carry the whole electrical department
    The good thingsBefore this i have lot of good colleagues in my department. They all were friendly. Working experience was good back then.
    The challengesHowever my colleagues started to leave one by one because of salary doesn't compensate with the work load and also no career development. Later, I need to single handedly carry the whole department. Was too stressed at that time. Knowing this company, no chance for my salary to increase even had to do work alone. I left this company without a job.

    Work just to install software and test
    The good thingsI have good colleagues here throughout my time here.
    The challengesI expect when they advertise as software engineer/specialist here, it will be exciting and challenging work. Maybe like using Perl, Python, C, or any other languages to run the production line. Turns out the job role is just to install the software that has already been written by Japan HQ to the machines. Waiting the software to be install and then troubleshoot. The work is plain boring. If you're lazy to think type of person, this is the place.

    Salary is Below Market Value
    The good thingsI got to do what I love to do which is drawing.
    The challengesI was sent from my employer to do design job at Towa. The work load is too heavy. I had to do drawings of one whole machine single handedly and the deadline is bery short. Not reasonable at all. Thank God finally my search for new company successful and my salary as a junior designer in my new company currently is higher than Towa engineers' who work there for 3-5 years which I asked them by myself.

    Strict Working Time Here
    The good thingsI got to know lots of good colleagues in my department. They helped me a lot.
    The challengesWorking here is very strict. It's like no tolerance at all. Especially in working hour. We have to clock in sharp at 8am, no plus minus even milliseconds. In the time where volume of cars are increasing rapidly at the moment, people had to drive car like crazy. I'm not into that. My life, family is more important than have to drive like crazy. Few days ago my colleague got hit by a lorry at the junction next to office. Be careful folks.

    Different Working Culture and System
    The good thingsReceived new PC just after few months started working here. Working here is way too easy than working at my previous company which i worked for 2 years previously.
    The challengesCame back to work at Towa with high expectation that it would be good as my previous company. Shocked that this company has no system in improving working flow for engineers, no training, never they had ever did team building to strengthen bond and chemistry between workers in dept. Seeing these culture and problems cannot be changed by employees giving opinions to the management. I left right after i received my bonus.

    Good Colleagues In Your Team
    The good thingsThe only good thing here is colleagues in your team where they will guide you. However due to heavy workload, seniors also has no time to teach.
    The challengesSlogan here is 'Do It Right The First Time'. Ironically with work environment here which has no training but expected to do it perfect the first time.

    The good thingsDue to lack of career progression and salary increment below inflation rate for years, lots of mechanical engineers are leaving this year which make this company heading towards the greatest resignation.

    Best Environment For Junior
    The good thingsGood exposure in semiconductor industry, on how the molding machine works. I would say you will master everything in one year.
    The challengesI see employee here will not get a good career progression. Not so much could learn here and also opportunity given by the managers here is low. Usually you will do repetitive work. I stuck here for 7 years and luckily I made a leap of faith to change career. I think junior here will do the same too,

    Great Boss Leadership
    The good thingsBeen working here for more than 10 years. All I can say is that bosses are actually listening to employees and want you to grow. Hence I have been doing the same thing since then and I know I will be doing the same thing until i retire. They actually listen until they put you cold storage. The salary increment also great which is below than the inflation rate.
    The challengesWork is repetitive everyday. Work load is decent. Plus I hope junior will try to do different from my footsteps.

    The challengesWork here is decent, most of the time is boring plus bosses here is not helping you to grow. Better find new workplace after one year.

    The good thingsGood for fresh and senior. Project work with a team. Work and assist with advanced work tools. Doesn't spend much time to study and will complete the job in time. Those special and critical stuff will handle by initiative engineer, don't worry too much on it. It is good to follow standard & reference. Otherwise, you need to answer it. No need question, just follow the guidance of your superiors.
    The challengesIs a learning curve for those initiative engineers. Trained to become a multitasking engineer to handle job as much as possible in short period. Request to support and handle urgent task due to shortage of man power and unreasonable schedule planning. Support sales to achieve the purchase order by shortening the lead time. Good to be more experienced than the predecessors.

    My past experience as Mechanical Design Engineer
    The good thingsVery challenging working environment especially in design team. Mainly design were on Conversion kits and very fast-pace company. Have chance to learn on Mechanical system (automation parts), pneumatic diagram and schematics diagram. Also have changes to go to Japan for training(if selected). And all stuffs are encourage to have meals at internal canteen only.
    The challengesToo many machines to take care and need to understand each design concept. Very short timeline and need to work extra hours even on weekend. Job requirement not too technical, most design already have manual standard created by Japan team. Local designer just follow design rule and check for any potential interference. Overall, no much engineering knowledge can be applied.
