An Enriching Insight into the World of Tertiary EducationThe good thingsTeaching materials (textbook, teachers' guide, scheme of work, slideshows, monthly test papers, P&P file) are conveniently provided for part-timers. Classes are reasonably sized (maximum of 35 students), and supporting staff (technicians etc) are incredibly helpful, friendly and patient, even with part-timers. Seaside location of campus provides a tranquil working environment, especially in the early evening, and the general amenities (sanitation, F&B, etc) are satisfactory.
The challengesPaychecks are often three to four months late, but am told that this usually happens to part-timers. Late teaching hours (7:00 pm to 10:00 pm) tend to limit contact/friendships with other faculty members. Facilities in the old building, especially the podiums, require renovation to ensure the comfort of both students and lecturers/language instructors. Campus is located somewhat out of town, so getting there may take time.
