Dedicated to growth and impact while navigating academic challenges.
The good thingsWorking at a university offers several meaningful advantages. First, it provides a knowledge-rich and intellectually stimulating environment where continuous learning and professional growth are naturally encouraged. Second, the university setting offers a stable, professional, and highly respected career structure, giving you credibility and a clear pathway to advance your skills and contributions. Finally, working in higher education allows you to make a real impact—supporting students, lecturers, and the academic community through your expertise, and contributing to the development of future professionals.
The challengesWorking at a university also comes with its own set of challenges. The academic environment can be highly demanding, with frequent deadlines, detailed administrative requirements, and expectations for accuracy and professionalism in every task. Decision-making processes are sometimes slow due to multiple layers of approval, which can delay implementation of new ideas or projects. Additionally, balancing the diverse needs of students, lecturers, researchers, and management can be challenging, as each group has different priorities and expectations. Despite these difficulties, the experience often leads to stronger problem-solving skills and greater resilience.

After all, it is good except increment can be better.
The good thingsSupportive colleagues and conducive working environment. ISD, HR and QA staff were helpful. Salary is always on time and benefits are clearly spelled out. Flexi time and no office politic. Respectful culture with focus on cultural events and core values.
The challengesLimited choices of food within walking distance and no bonus after UOW Australia took over.

Good stepping stone for fresh teaching career, once you get more teaching experience and with better opportunity, suggest to leave.
The good thingsThe school manegement and colleagues are very supportive and accommodating, made me feel like at home. Greater flexibility on work.
The challengesLittle or almost no salary increment after AUS University took over.

I was able to mature myself both mentally and physically.
The good things1. I was happy that I get to learn many new things about what are my capabilities in a work type environment. 2. I was able to mature myself both mentally and physically while I was doing my Internship. 3. I was able to perform tasks which I previously thought I won’t be able to perform. 4. I have deeper appreciation on what the admins and the lecturers of SCCA do to make sure everything goes smoothly for both the students and to UOW. 5. My skills on Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Google Docs have been improved due to my superiors handing me more tasks.
The challenges1. First day I came into work I was very nervous because the atmosphere that time for me was quite heavy. 2. I was afraid that I was going to make mistakes and make my Supervisor who is Miss Izzati, upset. 3. Miss Izzati was very kind and very patient with me by explaining the rules of SCCA office and what are my tasks are that I will be handling these 3 months. 4. As time goes on, I understand the basic work ethics that I must adhere to.

    Nice institution with supportive superior
The good thingsIt is like working in a big family. Everyone helps one another and the work culture is good. 2 key departments are good where the HR staff is professional and IT team is responsive. People here work based on trust and don't micromanage as long as you do your work.
The challengesYou need to handle extra classes without extra pay and not easy to get promotion. There is no increment given.

    Novice lecturer/Retired Industry Worker friendly
The good thingsFlexi working hours. Bosses here are quite decent(fair) and caring with a friendly working atmosphere. Colleagues are just as friendly. Provide useful training occasionally, particularly in teaching techniques, OBE.
The challengesKDU has always desired to move forward. But steps taken to commit to such changes is a bit too slow and conservative. There is always a strive for improvement but it is too slow in terms of pace.

    Overall is very good
The good thingsThe best thing is i have very cooperative and nice colleagues in my department. The company benefit is very good. The working environment is good. Other colleagues are also not bad.
The challengesShould not give full control to the manager, so that the manager will not overuse the power. Should start to do the Voice of Customer survey like we do before. The company should set the working hours, so that the staffs do not over work (life-work balance) and to reduce the staff turnover rate.

Good place to settle and retire
The good thingsColleagues are generally friendly and most of the employees are in their mid-thirties. This meant that they were more family friendly and everyone showed great understanding in having a work life balance. Also, the campus has great facilities therefore working at the office on campus is great! Working hours are also good. Definitely get good perks on the benefits front.
The challengesSalary increment is not very high, if not low. This seems to be a great place to sort of settle. A place where you work if you are making a range that is comfortable and survivable for you. If you're someone looking to have a steady growth on the financial side, perhaps you should come back in a couple more years.

    You've got better options
The good thingsAwesome Colleagues. That's all that's good about it. You need to only tag in maximum of 5 hours a day, so long as there's no classes. Other than that I don't see any perks. Medical benefits are provided albeit limited.
The challengesLow salary. Even if you have a PhD with 10 years of experience, you ain't getting more than a 5 as I heard from my colleague. I myself ain't getting more than 2.7 pre-EPF deduction, as a Bachelor degree holder. 3% raise per year with no chance for extra raise through position climbing, This just wouldn't work Weekend allowance of 80 per day (flat for all staff) in Education Fair, without commission, and you're expected to get students for them. Forced attendance. Even PC fair is offering 110 with commission for any students doing it part time. At least parking, petrol and lunch is claimable. Nothing is claimable for weekends open days in college which you're expected to do the same thing, 5 hours must be continuous. Which means, if your class it 8~10am and 4~6pm, you're in for the whole day. Management needs a clearer head in deciding whether to side students or lecturers when there's a dispute.

Everyone can work at kdu without stress and can easily completed the task with the oracle system.
The good thingswe are using oracle system and its make us do the work very fast without delay for next day. There is no stressful life at kdu.I'm happy working here.
The challengesmanagement must communicate with staff's and make staff happy with doing some get together function to get to know peoples in other departments.here very poor communication between other department people and did not know who are they so.There is no much training provide for staff as well.

Newly Established Campus with New Challenges
The good thingsAs the campus is going through several phases of new venture, you have plenty of chances of pioneering entirely new project and creatively solve problems. You may work in a very friendly environment with good and supportive people around you.
The challengesAs a private tertiary institution in the process of refurbishing many processes, sometime you get to multi-task on job not define within your job scope. A lot of unclear / grey areas within many newly introduced processes.

Constant restructuring in Top Management level
The good thingsThe people especially the lecturers and marketing staff were great. All very dedicated and committed to their work.
The challengesThe constant restructuring and changes in Top Management caused lots of changes in direction, hence this created uncertainty and confusion for the staff.
